Preparation
Put approx. 4 "kryddmått" (4 millilitre) salt and 4,5 decilitre (to the line) lukewarm water in the pot. Let the salt dissolve in the water.
If you have problems with extra dry mucous membranes you can add some drops of vitamin AD oil.

Why saltwater?
Our body contains of 0.9% salt. If the liquid in the pot has the same saltcontent and correct temperature the rinsing procedure will be a very pleasant experience.
If you experience a burning sensation you have cither used too much or too little salt.

How to use The Nose Rinser
Grasp the pot with one hand and hold it to your cheek. Put the spout in the nostril, let it stop up and lean over the wash-basin. Keep breathing calmly through the mouth during the whole procedure. Bend the head forward and sideways to let the liquid run in through one nostril and out through the other. Note that there is no extra effort needed. As long as you keep breathing calmly through the month the liquid will do the job. The liquid will remove dust, pollen, other contaminations and mucus.

After the rinse
Keep leaning forward and carefully blow your nose to clear it from the liquid. Start breathing through the nose again. Turn the head from side to side to empty out any remaining liquid. Straighten the bead up and carefully blow the nose again. Repeat the procedure if necessary until the nose feels dry.

Tips
If the liquid will not run through the other nostril you are probably not letting the spout to stop up and the liquid is running away at the side. Or you may have pressed the spout to firm aginst the nose which can stop up the flow completely.
If you have a cold the nose may be stopped up. The liquid will then need some time to penetrate the mucus. Keep leaning forward and calmly breath through the mouth. If it is still stopped up, carefully blow your nose and try the same procedure with the other nostril. In hard cases you may have to repeat this procedure alternately until the liquid penetrates the mucus and flows through both nostrils.

Why rinse at all?
Apart from cleansing your nose from various contaminations you also strengthen the cilia in the nasal cavity.
In former times, before the sophisticated medical science, it was common to use this method and still is in the Fast Asian civilization. Even in Europe you can still see old fishermen drag saltwater through their noses to avoid cold. At Swedish hospitals the method is more and more often recommended against cold, allergy and dry mucous membranes.
